LP Smart Siding is a type of engineered wood siding that is popular among homeowners for its durability, versatility, and aesthetic appeal. However, like any other siding material, LP Smart Siding requires regular cleaning and maintenance to keep it looking its best. In this article, we will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to clean LP Smart Siding.
Step 1: Inspect the Siding
Before you start cleaning your LP Smart Siding, it is important to inspect it for any signs of damage, such as cracks, chips, or discoloration. If you notice any damage, you should address it before cleaning the siding. For example, if you see any cracks or chips, you may need to replace the damaged boards. If the siding is discolored, you may need to use a color restorer to bring back its original hue.
Step 2: Gather Cleaning Supplies
Once you have inspected the siding and addressed any damage, it’s time to gather your cleaning supplies. We recommend using a mixture of warm water and mild detergent, such as dish soap, to clean LP Smart Siding. You will also need a soft-bristled brush, a garden hose, and a bucket.
Step 3: Wet the Siding
Before you start scrubbing the siding with your cleaning solution, you should wet the siding down with a garden hose. This will help to loosen any dirt or debris that may have accumulated on the surface of the siding. Make sure to wet the siding thoroughly, but don’t use too much water pressure, as this can damage the siding.
Step 4: Apply the Cleaning Solution
Once the siding is wet, it’s time to apply the cleaning solution. Use a soft-bristled brush to apply the solution to the siding. Dip the brush into the cleaning solution and apply it to a small section of the siding. Work in small sections, starting at the top of the siding and working your way down. Be sure to apply the solution evenly and thoroughly.
Step 5: Scrub the Siding
After you have applied the cleaning solution, it’s time to scrub the siding with your soft-bristled brush. Use a circular motion to scrub the siding, making sure to apply gentle pressure. Avoid using a stiff-bristled brush, as this can damage the siding.
Step 6: Rinse the Siding
Once you have scrubbed the siding, it’s time to rinse it down with a garden hose. Make sure to rinse the siding thoroughly, removing all of the cleaning solution and any dirt or debris that may have accumulated on the surface of the siding.
Step 7: Repeat if Necessary
If the siding is still dirty after the first round of cleaning, you may need to repeat the cleaning process. Wait for the siding to dry completely before deciding whether to repeat the cleaning process. If the siding is still dirty after it has dried, you can repeat the cleaning process.
Step 8: Dry the Siding
Once you have finished cleaning the siding, it’s important to dry it thoroughly. Use a soft cloth or towel to dry the siding. Make sure to remove any excess water or moisture, as this can lead to mold or mildew growth on the siding.
